What? It's June already?  What in the world did you do with May?
The lettuce is up, the beets, the cucumbers, okra, squash, tomatoes, onions, potatoes. . . kohlrabi's, carrots,  jalapeno peppers, bell peppers,. . . and all because the month of May & mother nature was so good. . . it was so busy for planting, weeding, planting some more, and adding this to that and oh my!  We've definitely come to the obvious conclusion that there is "no such thing as a 5 minute job"!  haha
  - Now, if we could just get Ellis the supervising cat to pull his share of weeds. . . and maybe Ruby, the Riverdale Ridge Dragon could run the tiller or the hoe!  Ruby?????  Ellis????

Easter Weekend- Is it Spring yet?

Saturday afternoon we had a list as long as Texas loosely put together as our "To-do List". . .
We really needed and wanted to get many of the seedling plants re-potted and get some of the rotational fencing put up and moved to accommodate the hungry little mama sheep. . .  After spending a crazy amount of time at Farm & Fleet picking up more fencing materials. . . (Never send a city slicker sister to pick up fencing posts & material if you are in a hurry- they have big ones, little ones, white ones, yellow ones- and of course, the ones on sale were totally out iof stock in the display case! - "Seriously????" -yep!)
We finally got the fence posts put into the ground with the wire placed & spaced about where we wanted them.
-(who says a rotational fence has to be in a straight line?  We couldn't just move the trees outta the way!)
The little mama's (sheep) were watching us intently, and their round & very pregnant little bellies seemed to get a bit bigger with each munch of the new spring grass they were happily grazing on!  Their wool is starting to grow back already after the sheering they had last month. . . and with the sassy cold winds that came with Saturday afternoons rain, I know the mama's were glad to have some of their wool to keep them warm!  They huddled together in the hutches out of the wind & rain, and were pretty content to be warm and their bellies full!  Once again we are all reminded that it is ONLY April. . .
and Mother Nature just likes to throw us a curve or two when she has a mind to do just so!
After pitching hay into the feeders for the Highland Cattle, the llamas, the horses, and of course, Luke & Duke, (the Riverdale Ridge Resident Rascals- the two male goats who are ALWAYS on a mission), we cussed a few hundred times as the cold relentless wind & rain soaked us from head to toe as we chased one of the Highland cattle back in.  Everyone else, the chickens, the sheep, the cattle, horses and llamas, were all bedded down & ready to call it a day long before we were.  They were all content as could be!
We finished up most of the chores, and headed into the porch to re-pot the seedlings and grab a bite to eat. Ellis, the Riverdale Ridge Supervisor cat had already staked his claim to the warm padded chair on the porch so he could supervise! There are tomatoes, kohlrabi, and peppers galore. . .

'now, we just have to be patient and get a little warm sun and let Mother Nature do her Magic!
